HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

ARES SHIPPING recognizes that its activities may involve potential hazards and considers the protection of the health and safety of all employees and clients as a fundamental responsibility. Since its establishment, the Company has been committed to creating and maintaining, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe, clean and healthy working environment.

The primary objectives of this policy are to:

  • Establish, implement, monitor and continuously improve health and safety procedures and practices applicable to all types of vessels and shore-based operations,
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable national and international health and safety regulations and statutory requirements,
  • Actively implement an effective near-miss reporting system in order to prevent accidents and hazardous occurrences,
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents and hazardous occurrences are promptly reported, effectively investigated and followed by appropriate corrective and preventive actions to minimize damage and prevent recurrence,
  • Establish and maintain active and participative Shipboard Safety Committees, fully supported by Management.

The effective implementation of this policy requires the involvement of all personnel. Therefore, all employees are required to:

  • Cooperate fully with Management in achieving the objectives of this policy,
  • Take full responsibility for working in a safe and responsible manner,
  • Never knowingly endanger themselves, their colleagues or third parties through unsafe acts, omissions, negligence or improper behavior.

ARES SHIPPING clearly states that failures, deficiencies or unsafe actions that may jeopardize personal or collective safety are unacceptable. The Company acknowledges that effective communication, adequate information flow, regular training, and a high level of morale and motivation among both shore-based and seagoing personnel play a vital role in preventing accidents, incidents, hazardous occurrences and near-miss events. ARES SHIPPING remains fully committed to the continuous improvement of its Health and Safety Management practices in line with international maritime standards and best industry practices.
