SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT POLICY

ARES SHIPPING recognizes that ship management and maritime operations inherently involve risks to personnel, third parties and the environment. The Company is fully committed to providing and maintaining safe, healthy, efficient and environmentally responsible working conditions in full compliance with all applicable national and international regulations.

The Company’s primary objectives are to ensure:

  • Safety at sea and safe ship operations
  • Protection of life, health and well-being of all personnel
  • Environmentally responsible operations and pollution prevention
  • Continuous improvement of management standards and operational performance

Safety of navigation, personnel safety, safe working practices, effective training, motivation and morale of employees, protection of the marine environment and safeguarding of company vessels are fundamental elements of the Company’s management approach. ARES SHIPPING aims to remain a leading Ship Management Company through continuous improvement, innovation and the active participation of all shore-based and seagoing personnel.

The Company’s top management:

  • Accepts full responsibility for the effective implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS),
  • Ensures that all shore staff, service providers and seafarers, including Masters on board, perform their duties in accordance with the requirements of the Safety Management Manual,
  • Has delegated the authority and responsibility for the supervision and continuous improvement of the SMS to the Managing Director, who is fully empowered to identify deficiencies, propose corrective actions and implement necessary measures

All employees are required to comply with this policy.

Environmental Protection & Pollution Prevention

ARES SHIPPING acknowledges its responsibility to prevent pollution of the atmosphere, seas, rivers and waterways and undertakes to comply fully with all relevant international and national environmental regulations, including but not limited to MARPOL and associated conventions.

All personnel shall strictly comply with:

  • Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plans (SOPEP),
  • Garbage Management Plans,
  • Environmental protection procedures and reporting requirements.

The Company demonstrates its commitment to environmental protection through effective planning, training and motivation of personnel, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a responsible and environmentally conscious manner. Management actively supports improvements to policies, procedures and equipment aimed at enhancing environmental protection. Environmental impacts are carefully considered when evaluating new activities or operational methods. Prevention is recognized as the most effective means of environmental protection. All personnel are expected to intervene proactively to prevent pollution before it occurs.
